2pr Naval round paint ID

I recently acquired this 2pr naval round with transit plug. It appears to have the remnants of white paint on it. There is no indication from the marks on the projectile that it is anything other than a standard round. Does anyone have any information that might shed some light on it? TIA

Knowing what is stamped may help. A lot of older paints look white after burning, and it looks like that might have happened??

Thanks for your thoughts. It is stamped

So nothing unusual there. And no Tig, it has not seen any heat. I know yellow paint can often fade white(ish) but the paint is definitely white.
