3 inch lead coated shell.

Could anyone give me some more information about this please.
Its 3 inches in diameter. Lead coated.
Markings as in photos.
INERT etc.
Age?
What gun?

It looks like an Armstrong projectile made by Royal Labs. probably circa 1860, the 3in shell of 1868 are 215mm long without fuze so possibley yours is a solid shot or segment if its about 2 calibres long.1887 treatise has some info. 2pr

The gun you are after a picture of is an Armstrong breach loader of 12pr calibre, should be some on the internet, but will look and see what I have. 2pr

Hi 2 pounder, no I've not found anything about it, its a bit out of my comfort zone this old service stuff but I'll keep looking. I got it because I wanted a nice example of how old shells looked to go alongside my cannon ball and studded shell.
