I bought this quite some time ago via ebay on a chance that it might be a Congreve Rocket head, however other than an external semblance it does not conform in any significant way. Its provenance is that it was found near Hythe School of Musketry, which spans many decades.
This object weighs 4lb 0.8 oz (1.838kg)
Its diameter is 3 inch (76mm) and overall length is 8.25inch (209mm).
The object is essentially hollow, the cavity extending 5 inches internally.
A thick collar with a 1.5 inch hole is pressed inside and that extends 2 inches into the cavity.
I cannot detect any markings.
Please see photos below - does anyone know what this is please?
