3 " Mortar, base ejecting pictures, can anyone help?

Hi all
Got a hold of a 3" base ejecting mortar round.
Fuze is from 1945, body 1944 and tail 1945.
It's pretty much a blank canvas and i'm thinking of repainting and stenciling it.
I found some nice drawings posted here on BOCN but havent been able to find good pictures of an original one.
I'm guessing the stenciling is in white?
There is a faint green band near the bottom of the body, about a half inch up from the lower guide band, but from the drawings
it shold be black. Thats the only trace of original paint.

Any help greatly appreciated

All the very best

Hi T42,

Here's my example.

The stencils on this one are in black.

On the front, the markings read:

3" MOR MK 4
264A (M)
L44 GD 847

On the back, there is the number 160 in a circle

Good luck with your restoration.

Cheers,

Gary

Thanks again Gary
While looking at the pictures, is there also a marking in orange or red beside the 160 on the back?

All the very best

Hi T42,

Well spotted!

There are red stencils on the body next to the 160 and on the tail unit.

The one on the body could be G 13 and the marking on the tail could be J 77.

Maybe some form of quality control mark??

Best regards,

Gary
