Hi all been awhile since I posted
Been keeping tabs when I get a chance. But with the down turn and struggels to keep the bussiness going one just has to put a lot of life's little pleasures on hold
"Q" picked up a 3" barrel & hopfully have the Legs on the way But I am missing the Ball Firing pin At the base
Do any of you have measurments or diagrams so I could make one
Many thanks if anybody could point me in the right direction
Cheers

Hi,
Lucky you finding a barrel and bipod. I have a British 3 inch' base-plate but nothing else! I have tried a plastic ball of around 50mm diameter in the socket on my base-plate. It will fit but deforms slightly as there are two straights on the sides of the socket.3 INCH 1944 £2200 2010.jpg I have attached a photo, taken from the internet, of a British 3 inch mortar which was for sale about 2 years ago. You can see the ball end in the photo and it has 2 flats to allow it to fit into the socket. I hope this information is of some use.
Regards,
Draoich

Just an idea....but a UK tow ball is 50mm...with a bit of modification?...................

I have a russian 82mm base plate which i uesd a 50mm tow ball when building a replica tube. I chopped of the ball drilled and tapped it then drilled and tapped a length of bar. I then screwed them together it looks ok not as good as the real thing but it passes. Cheers Mick.

Hi Takedown,re the uk towball idea,if you used a towball known as a stinger type,(foldaway type fitted to some cars and Range Rovers) some come with an elongated "neck",this would perhaps elimenate some of the welding and grinding required during fabrication, hope this helps,
Cheers,
Don,
