3" Wooden Mortar ??

Andy Naude

To add to Ron's previous post on wooden 3" mortars. I have just received this wooden 3" mortar.

Overall length : 367 mm

Diameter: 79 mm

The base shows many dents and dings, as if it has been used as a drill round. No other markings visible.

Has anyone come across something similar?

Interesting mortar but so hard to ID when they are not in any official booklets.
Possibly used by units or made for practice loading by armourers?? Certainly not able to be fired. Strange it does not have real fins. Thanks.
