.303 case with strange headstamp

Tube, Percussion, S.A. Cartridge, Mk III

"Tubes" are employed to ignite the propellant charge in B.L. equipments, such as B.L. 4.5-inch Gun, B.L. 5.5-inch Gun and B.L. 7.2-inch How. etc.

The Mk III was the first of the un-necked cartridges.
This specimen was made by - R ^ L - Woolwich in 1941
