I got this on a recent swap.
Its a 4 petal APFSDS projectile in a Gau 8 case.
I didn't realise the Gau 8 came in APFSDS.
Can anyone confirm that please.
Thanks.
Dave.

Dave,

There is no way a projo with disgarding sabot would be used in an airplane with jet engines. The jet engine doesn't like to ingest aluminum or carbon composite sabot pieces. The typical design for aircraft, is a HIVAP style, full bore projo with dense metal core.

Your projo could be one designed for AFVs or CIWS guns, most likely AFV.

John/Rick yes that makes sense, thanks. I didn't know if they'd come up with some clever way of catching all the sabot fragments before they got sucked into the engines.
Dave.
