Pretty sure it is for a 30mm Rarden?
Dia 30mm Length 115mm
Steel with steel drive band & brass fuze/plug
Base has a tracer hole.
Stamped SX 1084 - month/year? Then a 1 well away & a lone B then BM
Been vibro engraved 28 1/72 - the 7 is not a continental one so *I think it is UK made?

No evidence of paint

I`m think proof/short range proj?

Thanks as ever

As its fired, sometimes the nose can erode to a similar shape, particularly if fired into sand.
Just an out there possibility, could it be a 27mm Mauser?some of that stamping sounds similar to the 27mm and they also have an iron driving band.

Hi Bob
No defo 30mm & the nose is sound - no deformation.
Looks like it never hit anything after being fired as no marks on the nose or body apart from the rifling grooves.
Sand would leave rotational marks & pitting in the nose
Sent you email with pics of drill 20 x 139
