37mm shell case

My wife went to the antique mall yesterday and saw this shell casing and picked it up for me! It measures 50mm across the base (I assume it had a bottle neck on it that someone cut it down). On the base it reads 37 MM
BB - / - 94 - 1944 and in real small lettering around primer it says LS 6 - 208 M 3 BB 2. Can anyone tell me anything about this casing. Obviously it is WW2. Is it a U.S. casing? Any help appreciated. Dano

hello

It's a 37x222 US M17 shell for the 37mm M1A1 and AN-M9 gun. Unfortunatly it's cut down. You don't see them often, mostly you see the 37x223R M16 shell.
