I bought this interesting 37x163R US navy 1 pouder. I am looking for a good drawing or description of the powdercharge in the shellcase (powder / sticks / grains) and a description of the fuze. Who can help?
Thanks in advance, regards, DJH

Three examples of 1 pdr "Heavy" loadings as used in the McClean cannon, sold to the Russians and known by them as the Maklen.

Thanks a lot. So, my projectile is of a different construction, no ring between fuze and body, and a different type fuze. I may assume there are different types of projectiles?

Mellichamp Vol 1 has 27 pages on the ammo, with many variations listed including sub-calibre types, and four different USN base fuzes drawn. So yes, there were numerous projectiles.

Pretty sure that round is for the 37mm BSC "Bethlehem Gun", though I would have to see the base of the casing. Look at Gordon's thread at the beginning of the Projectiles category, 37mm Everyone Else. It's also listed in Mellichamps book as such. Cheers, Bruce.
