4.7 inch Anglo Boer War case.

New to my Anglo Boer War collection. A 4.7 inch case. From the net I believe there were 24 plus 2 Guns used and at least 3 035 rounds were fired.

This case looks like it is in a fair condition and was only loaded once.

I've seen these with and without tabs on the mouth to retain a cardboard wad.

I saw one identical to this one yesterday (no mouth tabs) but it had no date and the maker was EDC - the E and the D were together like EOC but it definitely wasn't EOC.

Also I was wondering what the raised up section around the primer was for, as I haven't seen this before.

These 4.7s were a naval gun and some were fitted with wheels and used in a land service role in the Boer war.
