Can anyone tell me where it was made?
Is it Britsh or Canadian?
Just need to find a case for it now.

MM/C - Canadian, alas I don't have any of my reference material to hand so I can't be more specific.

Hi Turpin,
Thats a great condition projectile with all of it's original paint, i think i am right in adding that the yellow band indicates a practice round as does the P stamp. These practice rounds seem harder to come by, good luck in finding the case you need to finish it off, i am sure one of our Canadian members can keep an eye out for you.

Thats why the P was stamped lighter than the rest maybe?
It was on a Norwegian site that sells everything from cars to clothes.
This one was hidden away in a bunch of other stuff in the collectables section.
The great thing is there is no bidding, just send the seller a mail, agree on a price and thats that. It's more like an ad in the local newspaper...
Had no idea it was that nice until i opened the parcel.
I found a Canadian case from 1943 amongst my stuff so i'm all set.

Looks more like a 2pr AT AP projectile ?, that would be 40mm also.

40 m/m. Practice Shot Mk 4T. Canadian. Steel. Similar to A.P. Mk. 6T.

Would have had a red tracer with a burning time of between 5 and 7 seconds.

i have one of these projectiles as well with the P ..what does the S stand for ?...i was wondering if it had anything to do with the vickers S gun... some of the pics i saw did have this projectile on a short 2 pounder AA case...im wondering which case is proper the long or the short ... thx for any help. my first post here guys great site !

I'd imagine the 'S' is probably a badly stamped or misread 'B-S' which indicates the shell's material, to quote the handbook, Bored from the bar (steel).
The correct case would be a 40x311R Bofors L/60, possibly a Canadian manufactured Mk 3 would be best?
