hi, there are a large number of 40mm Bofors REPRESENTATIVE rounds in existence in a variety of colour schemes but exactly what purpose did they serve? were they 'salesmans samples'?

thanks, Dave

Don't quote me but I'll take a stab and say they are "dummy" rounds painted in colours of Live rounds for training purposes.

thanks for that, you're probably right. They seem to be made up of anything that came to hand, 1950s cases but either early 50s or WW2 projectiles and either plug fuzes or service fuzes with the internals missing.
