40mm Pallad grenade

This arrived in the post today as part of a semi-major trade deal I have going with another BOCN member in England. It is a Polish 40mm Pallad grenade. That's pretty much what I know about it. By markings I assume it was made in the '90's. It is a practice grenade so it is inert etc..........Dano

I have been looking at these for the last year or so. They look good from the outside, any chance of some pics after you have had a go? If not, any major differences from UK/US ones. I see they do not have the powder tip, but are the holes drilled folr EOD purposes or are they smoke emitting holes?

pointblank0, I am not sure what you mean. I only know what I was told by who I got it from that it is a 40mm practice grenade from Poland. I am afraid I cannot help with your questions as I just don't know. Sorry.............Dano

dano, I think he's trying to rule out if it has the powdered dye marker like the US practice, if it is a smoke emitter because of the holes, or just a slug with holes drilled in it to show it is inert. It has been fired, hence the aluminum rotating bands having evidence of engagement, but as you well know, even though a round says practice doesn't mean it's inert. The US 40mm Practice, M382 and M407A1, though anodized blue, have live fuzes and an RDX boosters. The 40mm M918 for the Mk 19 also has a live fuze and a 1gm flash charge. Nice find and rare from what I've heard. Bruce.

Hi Dano, Nice round. I've notice these 40mm for sale on SA. Some have holes and some don't. Can't help with any information, but can add a pic. Cheers Colin

Okay

I feel like i'm in "right field" today and things just aren't clicking. Now I get it and should have before. Yes it is an inerted powder dye round, there are no holes of any kind in the projectile and it has been fired and the nose reassembled. I thought I was being asked other questions about the round that I know very very little about. pointblank0, what can I say? I feel like the village idiot here. Here is a picture of the round disassembled as I will ever go with it and brother I sure hope this helps. Apologies..........Dano

The ones with holes have/had spotting charges.

If you look closely at the picture I put up with the round taken apart you can see the stressing in the nose where it has impacted something HARD. I would like to obtain another of these rounds with the holes because for some odd reason I really like them and it would be a tad different. Aw hell I guess I collect about everything after all.....Dano

No worries Dano. I had to read my post twice to make sense of it myself. Must have been tired I guess.
