40mm projectile

Does anyone have any information about this projectile.
It is in 2 parts neither of which are magnetic but there appears to be a magnetic core in it. I think its anodized, its not paint.
40mm calibre.
190mm long
Markings as in photos.
In the last photo I have shown it next to a 40mm break up projectile which is made of plastic. Apart from the similar profile the mystery items is nothing like it. The 2 parts of it are made of alloy of some sort and it has what appears to be a tracer pocket and a double crimping groove.
Thanks.
Dave.

I don't know much about shells, but it does look like your break up round, is that a 40mm Bofors ? It seems very well made, do you think it could be an Armourers tool ? Just a thought.

I got it unscrewed today and all was revealed.
The core is magnetic but heavy.
I still don't know what gun its for though so any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks.
Dave.
