A friend of mine is trying to identify a cartridge case, I think its a browning .50 the stamps on the base read
12.7 G. R1. M1. A75

Can anyone offer an ID please?
 
Yes, it is a South African tracer round (G).

The R1M1 is their equivalent of M1A1 or the British L1A1.

It was made by Armscorp (A) in 1975.
