57mm BOFORS

Hello, i have this 57mm bofors, i cannot identify the makers stamp on the projectile or the case,also, the fuze is a time & percussian with no markings other than the time increments 0-55,it looks like a bofors fuze and the construction is very similar to the dm93 fuze found on british 81mm illuminating & smoke mortars, thankyou

Hello,

I know this shell as a HE shell for French navy gun 57mm Bofors model 1947.
I don't know the designation of the fuze (maybe made by Bofors or under licence).

It could indeed be a french projectile and case, as the codes AME and EMO are found in the "Repertoire des sigles ateliers"

AME: Atelier de Fabrication de Mulhouse, Mulhouse
EMO: Ste Etudes Mecaniques et Outillages, Levallois Perret

Not 100% certain about the projo being French, but it's rather likely, however the casing definitaly is, AME stands for "Atelier de construction de MaubeugE".
Below is a picture of my casing, also French since it bears the flaming grenade, which symbol can be seen on various shells from the end of the 1890s and after. My shell as a primer made by SFM (Société Française des Munitions, Issy-Les-Moulineaux) in 1956. Casing was made by SGB, but I can't find which manufacturer it is, if someone can help...

I have Mulhouse - see attachment from the "Repertoire des sigles ateliers - Forces armées françaises - 1987"

Your SGB code is not in the book, but SCB is (at least i think i see SCB on your case): Ets. Creusot, Bordeaux

It can be right too, but I have Maubeuge on a different listing and since all the other abbreviations are right I assumed Maubeuge was right too. See link: http://forest.frenchboard.com/t391-abreviation-munitions-francaises. All marks I know are rightly identified so I assumed Maubeuge was right too. In Mulhouse, the only ammo (and weapon) manufacturer I know is Manurhin, code MR.
It's a possibility that your répertoire is not just for ammunition manufacturer but also for other suppliers. Could someone confirm or not???

The "Repertoire des sigles ateliers - Forces armées françaises - 1987" is an official french list that contains codes from all french manufacturers and suppliers.

I've seen the list you mention, and it says 'jusqu'à la date de 1940' so before 1940...codes could have changed since (or it could be just an error on that site).
