I was e mailed these photos from a friend, the item is not in my collection.
57mm calibre
"It has the fuze pocket and a No 44 fits very nice, but, the cavity
below the top of the brass collar is just short of half way the length
of the projectile ?
The base bleed, is similar to the 1 pounder day
tracer, but this comes just short of half way up the projectile, after
measuring,it would appear that there is a separating disc of about
3/16" to 1/4". I have not done a fluid "capacity" check as yet to
measure the difference between both cavities.
The shell has been chromed as you can see,its made by Rudge Whitworth in 1916.
It also looks like the top part with the ogive screws off,but I can
not find any suggestion of a join inside the shell using an angled
scribe.
The No on the top part of the shell is a complete mystery also, which
reads A626 17"
If anyone has any information about this one please let me know.
All INERT and empty.
Thanks.
Dave.
