This case is trench art on the internet but who is the maker MR ?
MR Rutherford in NSW, Australia made 4" cases, 25Pr, QF How cases and projectiles 4" and 5.5". No mention of 6Pr 7 Cwt cases.
It certainly looks British or Australian. Any thoughts on the maker?

The 4" MK 1V X11 & X1X GUNS FA 1V cases by MR Rutherford also have only 27, 48 or 54 at 9 O 'clock as a lot No. made in 1943 & 44.
I think it is actually Australian made ??

A clue as to the origins may lie with the primer Ron. It appears to be made by “ER”, not a common one, but I think possibly Australian and one I’ve seen before. I’ll have to look at a heap of primers in Australian cases now to see if I can confirm the ER maker.
