6pr Hotchkiss ,no date, and is that an M or broad arrow?
Next one ,standard 18pr ,nice date stamp.
Last one ,nice late 18pr,how long did they make them?
Recent additions ,all full size cases.
cheers
Bob

That is the Maxim/Nordenfelt Monogram on the 3 Pr case, circa 1890 - 1898 era, just before Vikers Maxim & Sons.

Thanks Gordon ,

But why no date?, i've got another case (R L) clearly dated 98 ,so probably from the same era.

Hi Bob,

The 18pdr gun was made up to around 1940; the ammo of course was still being made after that.

Cheers
Drew

That 1940 18 Pounder is VERY nice. They are very rarely seen here in the UK.

I notice the primer has Indian markings from the Kirkee factory on it.

Yes indeed it is!!!!!

AND would be a perfect year match for my 1940 18pdr sectionized HE projectile and fuze....:xd:

Cheers

No worries Drew ,

just send the projectile over and i'll match them up! ;}

Cheers
Bob

No idea why there is no date, same on 1 Pr cases from that time period (up to ww1). The projectile may have had a date though. Hotchkiss Paris made items are just as bad, drives me crazy trying to pin them down. At least you have a nice and hard to find headstamp.
