I won this in a local auction for the equivilant of L 44.5 pounds or $60 U.S. I think I'll keep it.
The projectile is non magentic (brass) so I wonder if this was a drill round to start with ? The ruined base
just shows concentric grooves if this is informative. It seems to have had a wooden base but
I don't miss it, judging by 4 threaded holes in the heavy brass base. The work is good and there are basically
three sides to it. I particularly like the diver so maybe a navy diver ordered this ? Does any one know where it might have
been made , I'm thinking that it's not French.
(The shade is total plastic crap and will never be seen again !)
I found this one on a search (and a few others), similar brass top - so those may be some what generic on these. Quite a few
are atributed to Chinese manufacture. I guess a popular item if one was on the China Station, post ww1, prior to ww2 ?
Dragons seem to be popular more so than Divers !
