Does anyone know the filling in the German 7.5cm K.Gr.rot Pz. (Kanonen Granate rot Panzer) projectile for the Kwk37 L/24?
Interested to know how much filling and what explosive was used.
I can't find it anywhere.
I have an image of the complete round from a German manual showing an explosive code of 16 on it. It also shows in the German hand book with the 16 code.
Some explanations to the figure rigby is presenting:
Fp 02 = TNT, so Presskörper Fp 02 = pressed pellet of TNT
Np 10 = 90% PETN + 10% wax, so Presskörper Np10 = pressed pellet of PETN as an exploder.
Thanks all.
I thought TNT was susceptible to shock and wasn't suitable for an AP round. Unless the separate container and paper filler was meant to reduce the shock?
Still curious about the weight of the filler - how it compares to US AP which had about 2.3 oz of Explosive-D.
