7.7cm German canister projectile

I am familiar with the model of the canister projectile shown in the picture below which has a solid base. Some while ago I saw another example which had a brass base with a stepped hole in it. I thought it had been some sort of trench art but just recently I have seen the same type of projectile again. Stupidly I didn't think to take a picture! Does anyone have any information about this model of projectile?

Hello,
It's the same I show in my picture (right). It's a common canister with base sabot made of brass. The thin metal base plate is missing on your example.
Cylindrical body was made of steel or brass.
Your diagram shows a different canister (no hole in sabot). I don't know if your diagram is ok (maybe a first model).
My doc says the hole is made for filling balls.
