Saw this listed as a US WW2 76mm - but the driving band is wrong for that. I'm thinking possibly 75mm M61 but I'm not sure the base cavity looks right for that. Can anyone ID this?

I'm shure M8 owner is right.
And as they are quite scarce, I'd be carefull and hang on to it.

Did this item ever sell? I took a look at eGun, but could not get past the German language. I would love to have it. Any help would be appreciated. I have the proper case waiting for it. It is worth much more than the listed 80 Euro price tag to me.

Hello all. I confess to being somewhat confused. The projectile shown is German 7,5cm... agreed. I have only ever seen this projectile with either a 7,5cm FH 16 nA , 7,5cm LG 40 or FK 38. All the pictures I have seen of the short barrelled Panzer IV, mostly in Russia, have shown the ammunition being loaded as being the same projectiles as was used in the later long barrelled Panzer IV. I have 3 different 7,5cm German projectiles. The one pictured,,, the standard (normal) one,,, and another one with the normal piercing cap but with a much longer ballistic cap than the standard one. Sorry I cannot show pictures...I am unable to grasp simple things like sending images to this site. I can send them to email addresses though, should anyone be interested. If anyone need any measurements I will send them ,,, no problem. Hope someone can clear things up in my head.

The 7,5 cm Kwk only used one type of AP shell and that is the one which is showed above, with a KPS or a FES driving band.

Thank you for the clarification. I do suspect though that during the latter stages of the war the projectiles would have been standardised. A study of old photos would, as I stated before, show this.
 
The list of explosive content (Merkbl.Geh. 28/1) from April 1st 1944 lists only one Pzgr. Patr for the 7,5cm KwK. According to the explosive weight it is the K.Gr. rot Pz.
But never say never as I have been proven a lot of times.
Can You please post the measurments for the third projectile, please?

I must be wrong then. The paperwork certainly shows this to be the case. Thank you for your information Greif and Nabob. I think the photos I saw, on reflection, did not really give enough detail of the driving band, only that they were FES. I must say that I have never found, here in Normandy, any of the K Gr rot Pz projectiles. The third projectile I have been told is the 76.2 projectile used in PaK 40 cases. Total length 30cm, piercing cap 5cm and ballistic cap 8cm. Again, thank you for your input.
