75mm M18 shell casing with ink marks

This 75mm M18 shell casing was found this morning in a field in the Nijmegen\Groesbeek Area in The Netherlands (site of Operations Market Harden and Veritable).

On the base is a black ink stamp "UPER"

Does anyone know the meaning of this UPER (or VPER) stamp?
