Greetings to all
Can anyone shed.more light on this Italian cartridge case ?
Ansaldo naval gun ? Projectiles used ? Era ?
Thanks very much.
It is 76x441R x 103.75 and pictured with a 12Pr 12cwt case for comparison.
The bases are very similar with a bit of a curve from rim to sidewall.
And the rims are both 103.75 mm across
The slightly necked Italian case has a continuous shallow crimp that suggests seperate loading operation. True ?

Hello,
italian 76/40 gun was developed from Armstrong 12Pr 12cwt. Shell was crimped to case by the cannelure you note for this case is longer than british.
regards
