Gents,

I'm not a mortar guy and need some help with the ID of this one. I got it with a pile of shell cases I bought and I'll most likely sell it although it's pretty neat looking.

Overall length: 368mm
Length of body (minus fins/fuse): 196mm
Length of fin section: 125mmIMG_3391.JPGIMG_3515.jpgIMG_3516.jpgIMG_3518.jpg
Width: 80mm
Weight (empty): 2330g/5 lbs, 2 oz

Markings as shown in photos.

Thanks!
Mike

Hello,

At the end of ww1 French used a 81mm with exactly same shape.
No information on the brass fuze or plug on top, never seen before.
Length without fuze of French mortar projectile "BM18" is 326mm.

Regards

From HB in his Deminest, it should be a british 3" stokes and apparently, used with different french fuzes.
But if your diameter is effectively 81 mm, it is more possible to be the french 81mm Mle 1918
The gain of your fuze is very similar to a french gaine.
