Bosnia, the end of Balkan Wars http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3577624/. The whole premise of the movie is that a group of civilian aid workers need to find a rope in the middle of a war zone. I was pleasantly surprised to see this "rope" expanding into a full fledged action movie of considerable quality. Yes, war, UN troops, suffering, sacrifices...
You want to know real suffering? It is cutting off the right index finger of your son who is born a couple of minutes ago. Why? So Ottoman soldiers don't take him away 12 years later to convert him into a ruthless butcher speaking a local language (hint: you can't pull a trigger without a right index finger). Now, that is suffering for life.
