Abbreviation for pitch filling in practice shell?

I have a 3 inch 20 CWT HE Substitute practice shell (stamped with P). It has remnant black pitch inside that has gone hard. I read in a manual that the HE substitute material (sand and wax were also used) was stencilled on the yellow practice band. So I was wondering if anyone knew what the abbreviation for PITCH was, or whether it was written in full, or it was given another name. Thanks, Graeme
