Aiming rifle round?

IMAG0079-1.jpgHi all,

I found this in with some other rounds. It's about 22mm calibre and stands about 45mm high. ( 303 for comparison)
Is this an aiming round? Has 4 projecting 'studs' at the base. Apologies for pic quality, I'm having to use my mobile fone.

Many thanks,

Ben.

It looks very similar to one I have and I have mine listed as a 4 bore bullet, but that is 26mm I would say your is most likely an 8 bore bullet

I thought Brunswick rifles were 17.9mm calibre, I would have thought a 22mm projectile would be too big, they also only had 2 grooves not 4 as this projectile has??

Thanks guys,

having something to search with it appears it is a Jacobs round. One website mentioned: "calibres as large as 8 bore" in reference to later hunting versions of Jacobs rifles.

now I know what it is.

I will have to re-check mine as I have it down as 4 bore, could you put some links up I dont get anything when I do an internet search. Oh and it will be a Jacobs bullet not a Jacobs round :tinysmile_twink_t2:
