I decided to re-watch this https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078753/ to be able to compare to the new upcoming version. The 1979 on was made for TV (what is TV?) so had totally different moral standards from the present day. This American version is quite good. Let's see how Germans treat this subject in 2022.

Not yet, I have it queued up though, thanks for mention. I read the book when I was 10 or so, I only remember the very ending, the last page.
 
I have seen both the 1930 and the 1979 version, both are good quality. With todays cinematic standards it should even be more interesting to see.
