I was driving through Skaneateles, NY and saw this American Civil War monument dedicated to the soldiers and sailors from Skaneateles and surrounding areas. I wonder what kind of cannons these are. I tried to read the markings on the muzzles but couldn't (covered with paint).
They are Parrott rifles. Probably made at the home of such weapons - The West Point Foundry at Cold Spring, NY. They appear to be larger than the standard 10 and 20 pounder Army versions. They are probably 30 pound naval versions mounted on custom made gun carriages.
