Had bit of a sort out this morning of a box of bits left over from when I delt in militaria, never had been able to id this item.
Made of heavy cotton(not webbing) and looks simiular to a Boyes .55" ammo pouch but way too large,11 1/4" x 9 1/2 ", marked inside the flap 292/18/11383/2 P.B Ltd /l\ 1944 and divided into two vertical compartments inside
Any ideas chaps?

All the best
Tony

Hey Tony, it looks a lot like a US WWI gas mask bag but those had a snap on the flap instead of a button. That's probably one of the changes made for WWII but I don't know what WWII gas masks look like.
A gas mask bag has 2 vertical compartments, one for the filter and one for the face mask. I can't see what the buckles on the straps look like but that could be a clue. If one of the buckles has a hook on it and the buckle closest to the bag has a loop on it, it's probably a gas mask bag.

Good luck!
