A lot of Candu's stuff has been coming from collectors, on commission, and there has been a feeding frenzy on it for the past several weeks. He's a good honest guy so there's nothing nefarious going on. Just a bunch of bidders riding the wave, not wanting to miss out.

Yes. Very familiar with "candu"/RATWORX. A straight-up outfit. Nary a problem with them. The bidding, as you note, is more of a tsunami than a wave on some of the goodies they're offering up.
I just wanted to make mention of this knife (now at $732) to deflate the bemoanings of us in the other fields of interest. Glad I ain't into knives. OH WAIT!!! I AM!!!! :-(
