approx 49mm projectile

I have put this one up before. Does anyone know what it is. Approx 49mm calibre and has a hardened steel penetrator inside. Possibly Japanese.

What makes you think it's Japanese?

There are very faint markings that look like japanese markings stamped on one side

It is not like anything Japanese I've ever seen. It nearly looks like a machine part - the rotating band doesn't look right and the grooves in the nose look more tool-like than anything else. Have you tried removing the screw to see what is under it?

It looks like it will disassemble

Can you get an image of the markings, they look clear enough in the view. see if you can get it apart, if you can in pices it might make more sense.

It does dissasemble. This is what it looks like inside. It appears to be some type of composite rigid projectile.
