Very nice Dave. Does it have the two screw holes in the base for the clip? They are pitched apart slightly less than for the No 3 Grenade unfortunately.

Great find Dave, it's nice to see something that has not been messed with, well done.

The dealer said i was lucky to get that one, there were 2 others also in tin cans :tinysmile_cry_t3: but a guy butted in during the deal at a boot fair and frightened the seller saying thy were live, the seller took the other two to the police,,,,,, RIP ,,,,,,,, Dave

Wow, nice grenade, were the plugs on the top different because of the manufacturers or from the year they were produced?
Thanks

Im thinking the Ebonite plugs were fitted to the early rodded grenades, i have these plugs on No2, 3's and No10,,,,,,,, Dave

Done, had the clip made from a No3 clip i had and just got the engineer to drill the holes in different place, took ages to clean up to get ready for bluing, turned out ok after looking on Youtube to see how its done, done the screw heads as well,,,,,,

Stunning job , Dave . The 7mm version with an original base piece like yours is one of the rarest of the No2 variants .

Thanks Mike, i see in a collection last weekend a No2 but it was bigger than a standard No2 body, never seen one of that type before, looking in Rick Landers book it could have been a Pre WW1 version,,,,,, Dave

Dave . All the early No2's are pre WW1 . The one with a much larger body is , I think , an experimental version that was never adopted . Mike.

Not in the UK at least but I expect one of the Latin American countries might have used it for riot-control. Here is an image of one next to an ordinary 7mm Mexican pattern
