British 3-INCH HE Mortar

Thought I would sahre some good shots of some of the markings on the 3-INCH HE mortar we took pictures of at the Aberdeen Museum.

Not sure if the bag round the fins is correct since it is U.S. but interesting nevertheless ...

Does anyone have the nomenclature and cutaway image of it to add to the thread?

Looks like this round was made specially for the US military to study as its marked reject and empty usually for training purposes or evaluation. Normally these rounds as with all HE 2" 3" and 4.2" these rounds are shellacked with a quick drying varnish not painted in the buff yellow found on artillery shells. Interesting piece which I am sure is very much genuine.

Not that I am an expert but I would say the bag is correct. The bag has a metal base which I have not seen on British versions but have seen on another US made 3" mortar.
