I am looking for a reference (chapter & verse) that indicates that violet was used as the body color for experimental/ or trial ammunition prior to manufacture in British/Commonwealth ammunition.
ive nothing in writing but i have a few british grens that have a violet/purple stripe on them that ive always been led to believe denotes an experimental model.
Bonnex will have the paperwork for sure.
paul.
Every little bit helps, the item I am researching has a manufacturing date of June 1943 but in the last 5 years we have had a couple of items painted purple that we were requested to identify.
