British grenade no 70 practice.

Just found this British no 70 practice grenade at local antiques fair. Stamped PE 6 45. For the pricey sum of 18.60 (the seller didn't have extra 60p change, but I said it didn't matter!)

Thanks Allan I didnt know the markings where around the base under the paint till you said.
 
More jam than Hartley's is the phrase I think ! Wow, what a find, and at that price too, well done !

I know very little about these Alan, never had a HE version with any paint, according to the book "Grenade" the No70 Mk2 had Red filling band and green band with yellow borders but only round the body, unless its the 247 Mk3 fuse fitted to the Mk2 No70 for trials, who knows i dont,,,,, Dave
