BRITISH MADE / TOP / 65GR / S

I think it is from whitin a shell, possibly a booster charge (shrapnell) or a smoke box?

Can you guys help me identify this?
 
A picture would be helpful, even some dimensions would be of assistance. Is it something you have dug up?
