Can anyone identify this makers mark, found on a PIAT tail. It obviously looks like the Mercedes logo but presumably they didn't make British ammunition during the war years.

Catching up with this thread, it is probably not immediately obvious why Joseph Lucas used the Y in a circle monogram.
Amongst other things Lucas made lamps, batteries and electrical items for motor vehicles, as did its two main rivals C A Vandervell and Co., and Rotax Motor Accessories Co. In 1926 Lucas acquired both CAV and Rotax, and used the three names in the signage shown in the images below. The WWII era Y in a circle monogram was derived from this signage.
