Hi

My first proper post ! While walking the Somme this year i came across the usual cartridge cases but also the attached and i have no idea what it is having little ordnance knowledge, can you guys let me know please and is it WW1 or WW2 ? I found it in the High Wood area. It measures 15mm across . I can find no markings on the head at all. I`ve used a 1p piece for size comparison. The pics are the base and looking down inside, its only a small piece about 3/4" tall due to being damaged. Thanks in anticipation.
