Picked up this 18pdr today, i believe its Canadian with the C and broadarrow, but whats with the cap, is it a dummy round, no fuse. Not sure if the case is anything special. Also is this another thats been nickle coated after the war, iam guessing thats not orignial!

Thanks Mike

Mike,

British case Gramophone Company (later HMV), Canadian HE projectile that has been nickel plated, home made dummy fuze to represent a 101? Does the fuze unscrew?

Cheers,

Graeme

Usually these are lamps, I've seen so many that I suspect that was the root cause of the 1915 shell shortage. If the projectile hasn't been drilled through it would be worth while getting the plating off and finding a real fuze. If it is an HE projectile, well worth it lamp hole or not.
