Caseless round

This one has been in the same collection for at least the last 25 years.
It is apparently a caseless round minus its propellent. It hasn't been fired.
The calibre is about .5 although it may be .55 (I don't have any way of measuring the diameter but it won't fit in a .5 case).
Overall length is 75mm long with the "bullet" part being 45mm long.
It appears to be made of Brass
There are 2 flash holes either side of the primer end of the bullet.
I think its probably British judging by the remains of purple paint on it.
Does anyone have any further information on this please?
All INERT.
Dave.
