Hi i found an old coroded casing this morning while out metal detecting in our local wood, can any one identify and give me some feedback the bottom of casing says L18A1 07 RG

Thanks Fred

7.62 mm ?

Sounds very much like a 7.62mm round but I am not up to speed with the different L designations.
A picture is always best along with a scale if you can please.

The "L" is for a Land designation (Army use) with the 18A1 denoting what type of round it is ie Ball/Armour Piercing/Tracer etc and the "RG" is where it was made - Radway Green Royal Ordnance Factory Crewe Cheshire and the 07 is short for made in 2007.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

Fred,
The L18A1 designation was actually given to a 5.56mm Blank. If your casing is about 57mm in length then that's what it'll be - a 5.56mm L18A1 Blank.
