Civil Protection (1946) Ltd., London.
I know very little about this company, but they appear to have sold products that were made in the USA by Federal Laboratories. There are extracts from a couple of CP Ltd manuals on the internet, and the manuals are apparently identical to those issued by Federal Laboratories except for the company name. CP Ltd even used Federal Labs product names, such as Flite-Rite.
These are the Civil Protection (1946) Ltd., products that I’ve managed to acquire, all are 1.5 inch calibre.
Parachute Flare Cartridge White (used empty case)
Riot Shell Tear Gas (CN) Short Range. (empty sample)
Riot Shell Tear Gas (CN) Long Range. (empty sample)
1.5 Cal CP Shell CN (inert)
C.P Flite-Rite Shell Impact Tear Gas (CN). (empty sample)
The short range shell has a yellow base with large SR letters, and long range shell has a red base with large LR letters.
The sample shells and flare case are all marked Replace Before JUN 1960.
All of these were found in South Africa. My thanks to Andy for his help in acquiring most of these.
