I have a WW II German made casing for the "3,7 Flak r" which I believe was their designation for the Russian 37mm M1939 A/A gun. I had always thought they would have produced the round with their standard 3,7cm HE or AP projectiles for the Flak 18 but now I'm wondering if that's correct given the different shape of the projectile when manufactured by the Russians.
Unfortunately, my main reference, TM9-1985-3 "German Explosive Ordnance", doesn't list a projectile for the 3,7cm Flak r. However, it does show a few other projectiles produced for captured weapons and it dawned on me those, particularly the ex-Czech designs, followed the original pattern. Would anyone here know if that was the case for the captured Russian Bofors guns as well?
The neck on the casing is a bit distorted but I "think" it had two crimping grooves rather then one which I believe the Russian rounds had. I've attached pictures of the casing for reference.
