I realize that I'm behind the times but I had to post about this film I've just watched "DAS BOOT" is incredible! Possibly the best war movie I've EVER seen. Certainly the top 3! If you've got the faintest interest in realistic war drama, this film is hard to beat! It's VERY long but after a while you get the feeling like actually on this U-Boat! If you've never set aside the time to watch this, do yourself a favor. You will not be disapounted!

I've not seen the film, but I did see the TV version which was twice as long (three 100 minute episodes) and that was indeed fantastic.

If you can get hold of the 2 disc box set it shows the making of the film and that's fantastic to hear how thy made the film, loads of water every where and no sun light for the crew for a long time, will not spoil it for you all,,,,,,,, Dave

I agree. A truly great film, though you need a lot of time on your hands.
