This film reminds me of "Die Blechtrommel" a bit, very stark surrealistic account of child's life throughout WWII and beyond. A lot of attention was paid to be as historically correct as possible in uniforms, gestures and social customs. The movie is interlaced with real documentary footage and historic radio speeches.
